87FEI announces Frleep Flormp, the debut album by Beijng-based producer Dub Zen Melodist. Comingling threads of ambient, dub, and brokenbeat, Frleep Flormp continually subverts expectation while tying its peripatetic beats and mangled samples with Dub Zen Melodist’s crystal clear mixing and sound design.

The album opens with “Boxes of Boxes of”, morphing from ambient soundscape into neck-popping brokenbeat before plunging head first into the pell-mell dancefloor headiness of “Free Marmoset”. The title track “Frleep Flormp” is a heavily syncopated maelstrom of diverse tempos and oddball time signatures.

A mad bricolage of polymathic musicality, Frleep Flormp marks a sea change for one of Beijing’s most compelling young producers and the city’s burgeoning electronic scene.
