Just over one year ago, Mesak and Claws Costeau made skweee history with the biggest-ever China skweee tour, seducing 11 cities across the Middle Kingdom into a mystical trance of glitched-out analogue bleeps, booty bounce and slamming Suomi raps.

Now, the duo are delivering one more sonic surprise to their China friends to celebrate the Year of the Goat: 16 tracks of lush old-school skweee tunes magnetized to audio cassette by Beijing’s 87非87 label under the title “Finnish Splits”.

The compilation collects Mesak’s and Claws Costeau’s old-school skweee sounds and early skweee experiments — tracks unreleased in their time but too raw and wacky to ever forget. So, now these unsung skweee anthems emerge as deep cuts for the deep east.
